LAS VEGAS, Aug. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In May,
the Nevada Athletic Trainers' Association (NEVATA) volunteered at a
Girls on the Run Event at UNLV. Girls
on the Run is a non-profit organization created to "inspire girls
to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one
of a kind." 3rd-8th grade girls participate in a 10-week program
that helps girls to "develop essential skills to help them navigate
their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and
fitness." The program culminates in a service project to positively
impact their community and showcase their physical accomplishments
in a celebratory 5k.
NEVATA members participated in the 5k event in two ways. They volunteered at the
middle of the race aid/water station and were positioned to be a
liaison for the paramedics at the finish line. Additionally, they
had a pre/post-race table at which they interacted with
participants and family, and shared the importance of athletic
trainers and how ATs can protect young athletes. More information
