PolarisAR, a developer of advanced mixed-reality surgical
guidance technology, today announced the appointment of Aravind
(Andy) Menon to its board of directors.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Andy to the PolarisAR board
of directors as the company transitions to commercial stage and
clinical adoption by orthopedic surgeons at leading institutions
throughout the U.S.,” said Dr. Hansen Yuan, chairman of the board
of directors for PolarisAR, and a world-renowned spine surgeon.
“Andy’s extensive experience in financial regulation and corporate
governance makes him an invaluable addition to the board as we
strive for excellence in governance practices.”
Mr. Menon currently serves as senior associate general counsel
for Nasdaq, where he played a significant role in ensuring
regulatory compliance and overseeing legal matters related to the
operations of Nasdaq’s futures exchange. Before his time at Nasdaq,
he held key positions at Deutsche Bank and the U.S. Commodity
Futures Trading Commission, where he gained deep insights into
regulatory affairs and government relations. Mr. Menon received his
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hartwick College, a Juris
Doctor from Albany Law School, and a Master of Laws specializing in
Securities & Financial Regulation from Georgetown University
Law Center.
“I joined the PolarisAR board of directors because I saw immense
potential in their vision to revolutionize surgical precision and
patient care by changing the OR into a digitized, immersive
environment,” said Menon. “As both a shareholder and investor, I
believe in the transformative power of their mixed reality surgical
guidance system and the impact it will have on surgeries by
enabling informed decision-making and ensuring precision during TKA
procedures.”
“On behalf of PolarisAR, I’m excited to have Andy join our board
of directors, particularly as his track record of regulatory
leadership and strategic vision will be important assets as we
continue to expand our market presence and advance our mission to
create a new class of mixed-reality surgical technology that
provides surgeons with precise and efficient information in
real-time,” said Paul Mikus, CEO of PolarisAR.
About PolarisAR
PolarisAR is a privately held startup based in Miami, founded in
2020. The company is developing a new class of mixed-reality
surgical technology designed to optimize intraoperative workflows
and improve patient outcomes using advanced, three-dimensional
spatial computing algorithms. Its first product is the STELLAR Knee
mixed-reality surgical guidance system, cleared by the FDA in 2023
for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures. STELLAR Knee offers a
mixed-reality platform that comprehensively assesses bony anatomy
and soft tissue to ensure precise extension and flexion gap
resections. By combining the benefits of robot-like precision with
the simplicity of a mixed-reality headset, Polaris aims to
