In his new role, Smith will oversee the editorial content of the site and help expand online awareness of the brand. He began his writing and editing career at the Gothamist network's Chicagoist.com, the city's most popular news and culture blog. During his time there, he worked his way up from staff writer to co-editor, expanding both the blog's team of writers and its original reporting on Chicago's cultural landscape. As a freelancer, Smith has written for various print and online publications including Time Out Chicago, Metromix.com and CenterstageChicago.com. He has also served as a university and conference lecturer, sharing his expertise on how magazines can launch and maintain their own editorial Web properties, as well as a cultural commentator on a variety of news and entertainment broadcast outlets.
