GLENWOOD, Ill., May 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Landauer, Inc. (NYSE: LDR) announced today that Douglas R. Gipson has been named Chief Nuclear Executive, effective May 15, 2009. Gipson will assume overall responsibility for Landauer's Global Nuclear Power Business. "We are very pleased to be able to name Doug to this critical position for Landauer. He has extensive industry experience at the executive and operating level and will be integral to Landauer's global nuclear power strategy. Mr. Gipson is the recently retired Executive Vice President, Power Generation and Chief Nuclear Officer of Detroit Edison, a subsidiary of DTE Energy. Mr. Gipson was responsible for all of Detroit Edison's fossil and nuclear power generation facilities. His corporate duties further extended to responsibility for both DTE's industrial safety program and its environmental affairs, which included management of the environmental engineering and construction unit. In addition to his new role with Landauer, Gipson is currently the Chief Executive Officer of GenCo Asset Alliance. GenCo is a new company designed to meet the current large electrical motor needs of the utility sector. Additionally, Mr. Gipson is an Executive Consultant to URS/Washington Group's Nuclear Operations Power Business Unit. URS is working with several utilities and industry leading companies to develop the next generation of nuclear power plants. In addition to his long tenure as DTE's Chief Nuclear Officer, Mr. Gipson combines a thorough understanding of nuclear technology and process with business and industry acumen. He has provided leadership and been an active voice in the U.S. nuclear industry, with extensive committee and board participation in professional organizations and universities, among them the American Nuclear Society, Nuclear Energy Institute, Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, Electric Power Research Institute, the Utilities Service Alliance, the Nuclear Management and Resources Council, and the University of Michigan.
