Carpenter III has been elected to its Board of Directors. Mr. Carpenter is Executive Vice President and General Counsel for LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. , which operates 29 hospitals in non-urban communities, and has been with LifePoint since its spin-off from HCA Inc. in May 1999. He also serves as LifePoint's Chief Development Officer and its Corporate Governance Officer. Earlier, Mr. Carpenter served as General Counsel to the America Group of HCA, having previously been a corporate and healthcare attorney for 15 years with Waller Lansden Dortch &Davis. Mr. Carpenter received both his BA degree and his JD degree from Vanderbilt University.
