New kimberlite discovery confirms regional potential

17 June 2003

European Diamonds PLC (the Company) is pleased to announce that it has commenced
mini bulk sampling from one of its kimberlite discoveries at Lentiira in central
Finland.

The chemistry of minerals recently recovered from the F3 kimberlite fissure in
the western part of the Lentiira property is the most prospective of all the
kimberlites found to date. Drill samples from F3 contain high chrome sub calcic
G10 pyropes, high chrome chromites and eclogitic gamets. This suite of minerals
commonly occurs in most economic diamondiferous kimberlites around the world.

In view of the excellent chemistry from this kimberlite body, the Company is
presently collecting a one tonne sample from F3 for further diamond analysis.
The F3 fissure has been identified over a strike length of over 5 kilometres and
varies from 2 to 10 metres in width.

The F3 fissure is only one of 14 separate kimberlites and kimberlitic intrusives
identified so far at Lentiira, several of which contain indicator minerals which
often occur with diamonds. Drilling and sampling of these discoveries is
on-going, together with detailed ground geophysics to further define drill
targets.

The recent exploration programme has also resulted in a new discovery of
kimberlitic rocks some 50 kilometres north of Lentiira. This new discovery opens
up an immediate second front for the Company's exploration effort in the
Lentiira region.

Roy Spencer, Chief Executive Officer commented today "The F3 results give
further support to our previous statements that we have identified a major new
zone of potentially diamondiferous kimberlite in central Finland. Larger samples
can now be taken to test for diamond content. The search for further sizeable
kimberlites will continue through the summer with more drilling of geophysical
anomalies identified by further detailed electromagnetic ground surveys. We are
very encouraged by these latest results, which demonstrate the significant
potential for deposits of diamonds on our properties in Finland as part of the
emerging Karelian Craton Diamond Province of north West Europe. Our exploration
programme continues as planned".

Lentiira is located about 500km north of Helsinki, close to the Russian border.

In other developments, the Company is pleased to announce that it has appointed
Numis Securities Limited as its AIM Nominated Adviser and Broker.

European Diamonds PLC is listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of
the London Stock Exchange and its shares trade under the symbol EPD.
