Whats up brother, well your EPD has been a shining star well done was so tempted to jump in for Doug but just need not steady great income as it give you, I need some Peace Out focus to get Doug where he needs (wants and I promised) to be by years end, but man you really picked a sweety in EPD give credit where credit is due.

Hope Doug sent you the links about a month ago about your area of expertise midstream upstream they said a few months ago was severely undervalued.

Send me a text I cannot find your number on the phone want to have a chat and I am paying $13 a month to PM until I know the yo's are gone but I am here until pluck my nerves, LOL.

One thing a heads not so much an investment more a flip (only because I don't do the investing longterm in the drilling game) but borr had a hit lately because Saudi Arabia cancelled a few rigs and that was a gut punch but they had finally started paying divies it hit $9 I think a good number to shoot for for a flip is anywhere between $7.50-8.00 opened up just above 6 on news at 4AM but I think decent % flip I am gonna try to grab some $5.50-6.00 on open sell the news dip, we shall see. u just a swing to make the Augie dog some steak money LOL hope the Augie dog is doing good been thinking about him.

Will be seeing you more than likely January just a couple day stop am heading out to have a look at Montana for a home, but may make it August as I am supposed to go to Boeing classic with Doug and between idiots that are in the airports and on planes now and the Boeing planes as of late (where would one start) if I go I am gonna take a sleeper car and stop various places along the way, we will speak and see when and if is good time with the misses hope she is doing well I send my best. I probably will go in August it's like but even taking the sleeper car on Amtrack I still have to go to Seattle blah, but he's my buddy and asked more than a few times so I am gonna bite the bullet most likely make a month long trip out of it and deal with the crazies in Seattle for a week then the rest wherever just to stretch my legs for a minute as I am almost done mommys house.

Okay sorry EPD guys i started talking about it but had to speak to him on something else my apologies, and BTW as I told Gary damn good turn of events here, he always knew, sometimes us younger know it alls need to listen to the old dogs, makes us look in the mirror and check our young arses LOL

Congrats to all, futures so bright you gotta wear shade.

peace out.

GM Tom, Another bank

Scotiabank raises $EPD PT to 31 from 30. Banks know where to put money, even though they wish it were in your accounts with them.

Each month banks give a tiny fraction of the 7% tax free distribution, as those pennies appear rather miniscule on our statements.

EPD tipping the scales at nearer $30/share. Value Line offers an 18 month "Appreciation Potential" of $23 to $32. It's 3-5 Year estimated potential is $45 to $70! Even the lower end of that would make me smile.

From Value Line:

Enterprise’s finances ought to able to manage its large construction program. The partnership reduced spending in 2021 and 2022, but it returned to more normal levels in 2023. The U.S. has become the world’s biggest exporter of LNG and EPD should benefit from this.

MLP investors may want to take a closer look at these neutrally ranked units. The current yield of around 8% is well above the Value Line median and in line with other midstream entities. Moreover, potential returns out to 2027-2029 are attractive. In addition, the partnership size and presence in all the major shale plays and end markets makes it less vulnerable to a specific problem in any sector or territory.

Hi Pete, Re: Spreading it around...............

I own EMLP as a catch-all in this space, too. It's in a different portfolio. I trim it by 5% as prices climb and add 6% on the dips. Roughly there's a 20% LIFO turn on the round trips. They don't happen very often, however!

Thanks for the thoughts. Barclays upper target is about where I'll let the next 10% of shares go.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom

Barclay's is a bigger name player than Truist, with the latest upgrade which you probably noticed.
Barclays upgraded our steady $EPD to $31. I moved the long term sells higher after selling 8% which were short term. None left to take off the table.
I started a position in MPLX to compliment my energy long term passive income with MLP's strategy.
Bought the dip...

Hi Pete, Re: EPD Price and Upgrade.......................

Those are just above my next targeted harvest price. I'll take some $$ off the table at $30.77 for future rainy day purchases.

I now have about 16% more shares in EPD than when I started and slightly more cash held in reserve as well. Without dividends, the holding is up 19%. I've had 5 Buys and 4 Sells of incremental amounts over the holding period. The best accumulation price was $13.48 while the best distribution price was $29.38 so far.

Through those small, opportunistic trades, I've been able to take a stock that's only gone up 3.8% and managed to increase the return to 19%. Collecting EPD's generous distributions has also helped in the total return.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom

Thanks for letting me know. Good luck to you as well. I have flipped short term shares that were up more than the generous dividend and plan to get them back. The long term core is 2/3 of the position, untouched for years. The rest I treat like the 1500 institutions that are invested in EPD. They move the money in and out to increase the earnings and cover their fees they charge clients to invest their money. Today is the last day to earn the .515 distribution because of the + 2 day settlement.

Enterprise Products Company, formed in 1968 by Dan Duncan and two partners as a wholesale marketer of natural gas liquids.
It became the current Master Limited Partnership (MLP) in 1998. It could be you knew it back in the 80's as the name you said. Those shares would not be the same now. I have held it all the way back to my father's time last century.
Hope this helps.

I added to a long strong position on the early session floor with RSI under 20. As usual "sell the news" followed the declaration. 3% increase works for me!
Owned EPD for over 20 years. It is better than a bank. Pays you way more to park money, but I also trade the swings. Core is about 70% of current count.

Easiest stock to create extra income above the distribution. I buy a few in between the quarterly payouts and take a bit of profit flipping them. I would like them to become long term lots but only 10-20% get there. The core goes back to the 1980's.

Hi CM, Re: GTC Limit orders both buy and sell sides...........................

Thank you for your thoughts. I guess it has a lot to do with one's methods of inventory management and control. For me, I think I've had as many nice surprises as bad ones - maybe more. Limit orders have an unstated "or better" feature, so if there are surprises at the open, they can be a better price than your original limit.

I'm not a person that sells all or buys all at once. Generally my buys are for ~12% additions to share inventory while sales are for ~10% of inventory. This limits the size of the "mistake" that might be made by leaving an outstanding order for 60 to 90 days.

Best wishes,
OAG

pete807 pete807 10 months ago
Even GTC orders expire in 60 days.

I use use GTC for protection against borrowing, and place the price at what I consider out of reach, or if sold would be such a big win. Knowing the size of the float and the number of institutions in it makes a surprise in this stock VERY unlikely for traders that do it for a living.

IMHO good traders know how to take profit, hence our LIFO discussion on making money between quarterly distributions to increase the yield. Having a plan is very important, no? Whether it is a used car or the casino.

I was told by a large company head of Human Resources; "The worst addiction to cure is gambling"
I use a big brokerage firm but do all my own trades. The Schwab head of my region called me and we had a great discussion. I remember after congratulating me he said "I have a lot of people who don't know how to take profit".
My guess is they don't follow the markets or trade daily. Of course surprise becomes likely.

I agree with OldAIMGuy's signature line:
"Buy from the scared, sell to the greedy".

I respect your opinion but our's works well too. The key is HAVE a plan, and be disciplined.
No checkmate here, just a stalemate.

GTC limit orders, IMHO are risky, in several possible senarios:

1. A black swan. If something really went south such as oh, just a guess, a crushing lawsuit. Then you would pick up "cheap" shares, that may not be that cheap after all. A dividend cut for EPD would be a black swan, since they have raised the dividend, about 24 years. So investors would not be happy with a dividend haircut.

2. The exact opposite, such as a M and A. What if, oh, I dont know, someone offers to buy all the shares at $50, and the price shoots up very very quickly..except you miss out because you sell yours with a GTC limit order, based on you "not knowing" about the M and A. Its almost like limiting your upside with a covered call.

3. What if you forget about your GTC order? That is not impossible, and a GTC order of $28 may be obsolete in several years, or even sooner.

4. In addition to the above, EPD "making the dividend aristocrat list" could be very very good for current shareholders, spiking the price, and you may, again, miss out on some of the gains.

For reasons above, I dont use GTC orders.
I noticed, when I went to carmax to sell my car, they make a written offer...its good for about 7 days. Why? Because market conditions change and next month the car may well be worth more or less than today.

Hi T, Re: discipline.......................

I read a story called "The Man Who Was Too Lazy To Fail" years ago. It's basically "work smarter, not harder" and I've attempted to do the same with my investing!

Nearly 100% of my trades are done with GTC Limit orders. That gets me away from the computer and off doing other fun stuff.

It should have printed *following", not flowing in the last sentence.
Because following every distribution, and for reasons I indicated, the price drops as a percentage of people, institutions, hedge funds, whatever, move the money to keep it working rather than sitting long.

Estimate the bottom between quarterly payouts and bid below that because you can always change your bid as the quarter progresses. I use only RSI and MACD in charting.

Your plan is flawless, Tom. Clearly born of long knowledge of the company.
I trade daily but not EPD,... rarely too, considering it more like a bank than a play.
My sells are set too high out of selling range to prevent borrowing @40 but I will buy LIFOs in the 24s.

EPD is the core of my stocks, 30% of my portfolio. and has a $16 (book) cost basis. But with 100% capital returned on most shares, distributions are taxed at long term 15%. Heir's get stepped up basis.

I have been very lucky to find a few others to turn my brokers head and call me with 266% portfolio gain in the last 2.5 years. He said he has a lot of clients that do not know how to take profit. I get that. It takes years of study to improve your plan. For a long time I held only MLPs., paid very little tax.

I keep complete transaction records on each ticker in.winner/loser file. it is a full time job.

For anyone wondering if they should invest, change you question to when, depending on your time horizon. I am 72 yrs young. 4 times a year this cycle is repeated leading up to and flowing a solid safe distribution.

Thanks for posting.

Hi Pete and T, Re: EPD price range and potential targets......................

Currently I'm set to reduce my position by 10% if the price/share reaches near $31/share. I'll add 12% more shares if the price sags to $22.66 or lower. It's current 52 Week price range is $22.90 to $28.65, so I don't expect much in the way of trades any time soon.

My latest buy was back in September of 2020 at $16.79 and my latest sale of some shares was at $27.70 in May of 2022. Not exactly wearing me out with trades, but the LIFO gain has helped enhance the total return on EPD over time.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom
