Pryme, First Super-Premium Cigar from Alec Bradley, Debuts

Alec Bradley's Pryme is the company's first entry into the super-premium cigar market. "Our previous focus has been on value-priced premium cigars," says Alan Rubin, founder and president. "Retailers and smokers consistently told us our cigars outperformed high-end brands, so we decided to swing for the fence with Pryme."

Pryme uses wrapper leaf from the corona, or flowering top part of the tobacco plant. More popularly known as ligero, it is generally used in the filler's central core, to boost its power. The wrapper displays a lustrous sheen, due to the extra oils that protect this top leaf from the sun. Pryme's production is limited and costly, because there is less than a 10% yield from an entire year's crop. The medium-to-full bodied cigar gains its depth of flavor by balancing the ligero's full aromatic flavor with a rich-tasting Mexican binder and four-nation filler blend from Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

Pryme is available in four shapes: #100R (5 1/4 x 52), #200X (6 1/8 x 50), #300C (7 x 48), and #400T (6 3/8 x 52 Torpedo). Their suggested retail pricing is in the $10 to $12 range. It comes in quantities of 20, in a humidor box made from Nogal wood, which is indigenous to Central America.

Earned .02 profit per share for the year. Excellent year and with ultra low float this should be much higher. Time will solve that.

Hi Mr. Bill
This one has been creeping up recently on very low volume. Any idea why. Do you think this company can be a buyout candidate from the like of a Thompson Cigar or others?
They earned .01 so far for nine months ending 2003 and should have profit for year. At a conservative valuation of 20x earnings which is average for a specialty retailer it makes more sense that this trade at least in the .20 to .30 range and probably a lot higher with its micro float. Your thoughts?
