Community Tradition Continues with 28th Annual LaSalle Bank Reeds Lake Run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- One of West
Michigan's most popular annual traditions continues as families,
elite athletes and runners of all ages prepare to lace up for the
2006 LaSalle Bank Reeds Lake Run. The race takes place on Saturday,
June 24, in East Grand Rapids. (Logo:

consists of a scenic 10K run around Reeds Lake, a 5K run/walk
through the neighborhood of East Grand Rapids and special
"everyone's-a- winner" races just for kids ages 5-12 at the East
Grand Rapids High School track. Event times are as follows: * 5K
Run/Walk -- 8 a.m. * 10K Run -- 8:45 a.m. * Kids' Races -- 9:30
a.m. Once again, the LaSalle Bank Reeds Lake Run designated
charitable partner will be the Pediatric Oncology Resource Team
(P.O.R.T.) at DeVos Children's Hospital -- a group of parents,
professionals and trained volunteers that provides counsel, care
and compassion to families of children battling childhood cancer
and life-threatening blood disorders. This year marks the 10th year
P.O.R.T. has been the charitable partner for the Reeds Lake Run,
with nearly $40,000 raised to date through individual participant
and sponsor contributions. "We expect this year to be another great
race and community gathering, continuing a tradition that is more
than a quarter-century old," said Susan Perry, executive race
director. "The LaSalle Bank Reeds Lake Run continues to be a
popular regional event, drawing well over 2,500 participants. We
are once again looking forward to a large turnout and, hopefully,
the same great weather we have had in years past." Upon completion
of the run, a post race party will be held at John Collins Park on
Reeds Lake from 8:45 a.m. - noon. The celebration, open to all
members of the community, will feature food and refreshments, live
music and entertainment for the entire family. "Every year, we look

Race participants can register online for $20 through June 16,
2006. Mail-in registrations will be $22 through June 16. Late
registration, from June 17 - 24, is $25. Packet Pick-up will take
place at the East Grand Rapids High School gym at 2211 Lake Drive
on Friday, June 23, from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 24,
