Waratah Coal Inc. ("Waratah" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: WCI)(ASX: WCI) announces that Mr. Clive Mensink, Mr. Geoffrey Stephen Smith and Mr. Domenic Martino (the "Outgoing Directors") have resigned from the Board of Directors. These resigning Board members have been replaced by Mr. Christopher Jones, effective March 27, 2009. Mr. Jones has also been named the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Peter Lynch, Waratah's President and Chief Executive Officer, and Professor Clive Palmer will continue to hold their positions as directors.

Mr Jones is a Canadian securities lawyer with substantial experience acting as counsel to public and private companies doing business in Canada.

Waratah would like to thank the Outgoing Directors for their contributions to the Company and welcome Mr. Jones as a director and the new Chairman of the Company.
