Cinergy Deploys Executive Dashboard, Sustainability and Training Applications to Employees Via Plumtree Enterprise Web Suite Service-Oriented Applications Created Within Plumtree Framework Save Time and Increase Accountability SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Enterprise Web leader Plumtree Software (NASDAQ:PLUM) today announced that Cinergy, a leading Fortune 500 diversified energy company, has deployed the Plumtree Enterprise Web Suite to 7,000 employees enterprise-wide. Initially launched in 2001 as an employee-services application, Cinergy's portal, known as iPower, has evolved into a platform for building applications to serve the company's business needs. With the Plumtree framework, Cinergy has been able to build multiple service-oriented applications, including an executive dashboard, an application that increases employee collaboration on a sustainability program, and a training application that provides educational tools. Cinergy will showcase its applications, including enterprise-wide dashboards for monitoring energy performance metrics, through a Web seminar entitled "Corporate Dashboards: Cinergy at a Glance" on June 10, 2004, with registration at http://www.plumtree.com/04/cinergy. "After the initial launch of iPower, we realized that we could extend the value of Plumtree's framework to deliver problem-solving applications across the enterprise," said Bennett L. Gaines, vice president and chief technology officer at Cinergy. "We've been able to quickly assemble and centrally manage applications that directly impact employees' work lives; iPower enables cross-functional online collaboration for the first time, gives executives consolidated information for easy access and has led to increased productivity and accountability throughout the company." iPower Delivers Applications for Employee Collaboration and Executive Decision-Making In just eight weeks, Cinergy built and launched iPower as an employee-services portal for the enterprise, integrating PeopleSoft and legacy resources. Through iPower, Cinergy was also able to consolidate over 180 disparate intranet sites. With the success of iPower's initial launch, Cinergy found that employees in all lines of business wanted to integrate and deliver more of their daily work processes through the portal. Thus, the company began to focus on building service-oriented applications delivered through iPower that would enable employees to complete processes they had previously done over the phone or on paper. iPower now gives employees access to a variety of applications to monitor business metrics and collaborate with one another, including: Executive and corporate dashboards that allow employees to: -- Drill down into portlets with key production and performance metrics; -- Review daily, weekly and monthly financial indicators; -- Receive notification e-mails on important company data; and -- Track performance metrics while on the road through PDA and wireless devices. As a result, managers can keep abreast of performance in key business areas. A treasury application that lets different functional groups: -- View monthly treasury statistics, cash forecasts, investor information, generic bridge spreads and credit ratings; -- Obtain spreadsheets of bank relationships, investment bank contacts, debt and maturities schedules and short-term interest rates; -- Read company financial press releases and treasury-related news and reports; and -- Use message boards, a Federal Reserve Board meeting calendar, and organizational charts that interface with PeopleSoft. As a result, inbound calls to the Finance department have been dramatically reduced. Internal clients are locating information needed for important business transactions faster and with greater accuracy. An employee support application that allows employees and managers to: -- View competitor data and company updates as well as co-workers' personal milestones; -- Conduct transfers and salary increases; review resumes of employees scheduled to leave the company; -- Make travel arrangements and perform self-service HR transactions via Expedia and PeopleSoft; and -- Submit service tickets to IT, monitor network status and poll users. A sustainability application that allows cross-functional teams to collaborate on executive-led programs, helping Cinergy meet its goal of joining the Sustainable 500 list. For the first time, cross-functional applications are empowering teams to collaborate with other functional groups, increasing the speed with which projects are prepared and delivered. A training application that consolidates training materials and records from different systems, giving employees one central place for educational tools and training materials across the enterprise. Plumtree Chosen for Web Services Architecture Cinergy was growing rapidly through acquisitions and did not want to replace each acquired company's technology with a single set of infrastructure. As a result, Cinergy selected Plumtree for its open Web Services architecture, which allowed it to combine services from the different systems throughout the company, such as Cognos, PeopleSoft and Tibco.
