WorldPerks members earn double miles and double 'Elite' qualifying miles EAGAN, Minn., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines (NASDAQ:NWAC) today announced that it has fully matched a United Airlines offer that awards travelers with double the normal amount of miles accrued for flights and double the normal amount of miles that are counted toward achieving "Elite" status in Northwest's WorldPerks frequent flyer program. U.S. and Canada-based members of WorldPerks traveling on Northwest, Northwest Airlink or KLM-operated flights between today and October 9, 2005, will accrue double the amount of miles they normally would, as well as earn double the amount of miles counted toward reaching Elite status. Northwest's WorldPerks program rewards its most frequent customers for their loyalty by granting them Elite status. After flying 25,000 miles or 30 qualifying segments in a calendar year, travelers earn Silver Elite status. Gold Elite is earned after flying 50,000 miles per year or 60 qualifying segments. After flying 75,000 miles in a calendar year or 100 segments, customers earn the coveted Platinum Elite status. All Elite status members enjoy an array of benefits including unlimited, complimentary, space-available upgrades to first class, early flight boarding, an exclusive toll-free reservations line, special assigned aircraft seating and discounted memberships in Northwest's WorldClubs airport lounge program.
