eMagin Corporation (EMA:AMEX) will begin shipping pre-production version samples of the worlds smallest pixel-pitch display. The SVGA-3DS will be available in limited quantities with a custom interface design & reference kit (IDRK) in December. Employing the companys OLED-XL technology, the SVGA-3DS microdisplay offers both analog and digital signal processing in a compact (0.44-inch) display with both analog and digital interface capability imbedded, making it an even more affordable, easy-to-integrate solution for many virtual imaging systems. Many existing and potential customers are eager to begin characterizing this next-generation OLED technology for their applications, said Susan Jones, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, eMagin Corporation. These kits give them a jump start. The new SVGA-3DS microdisplays eliminate the need for extra circuitry and components while allowing for a smaller display module design with increased functionality. Specific improvements include improved pixel uniformity, extremely high contrast (measured in the lab at 10,000:1), improved color gamut, on-chip temperature sensor, and luminance compensation over the entire mil spec range, while retaining the high energy efficiency and high video speed characteristics of eMagins approx. 0.6-inch diagonal OLED microdisplays. Available in limited sample quantities, the specially-designed IDRK provides system designers full access to the SVGA-3DS internal functions and registers, and enables them to assess its capabilities and performance. Jones noted, These are prototypes of the final production microdisplays that may exhibit some flaws common to prototypes, but they do provide an accurate display size, image quality, and brightness to accommodate new system designs. The IDRK makes testing these prototype SVGA 3DS microdisplays plug and play. For more information about eMagin and its products, go to www.emagin.com or contact sales@emagin.com About eMagin Corporation A leader in OLED microdisplay technology, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays with magnifying optics to deliver virtual images comparable to large-screen computer and television displays in portable, low-power, lightweight personal displays. eMagin microdisplays provide near-eye imagery in a variety of products from military, industrial, medical and consumer OEMs. The companys own Z800 3DVisor provides 3D stereovision and headtracking for PC gaming, training and simulation, immersion therapy, and other applications. eMagin's microdisplay manufacturing and R&D operations are co-located with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, New York.
