Teresa White, Aflac president U.S.,
has been awarded the 2014 Woman in Healthcare Leadership Award by
the Atlanta chapter of the
Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA). The announcement was
made at the award reception held at the Buckhead Club in
Atlanta on Thursday, December 4. Teresa was among 18
nominees and five finalists for this prestigious award, whose
annual recipient is a woman who "plays a lead role in the health
care industry exemplifying strong and innovative leadership,"
according to the HBA.

entire health care and insurance industry is learning what everyone

White, who earlier this year was named as one of Insurance
Networking News' Women in Insurance Leadership and one of the
Network Journal's 25 Influential Black Women in Business, has
served in her current capacity as president of Aflac U.S. since
September of this year. Among her recent achievements, White played
a major role in executing significant changes in the company's
sales structure. A passionate proponent of corporate mentoring and
coaching, White also recently opened Aflac's first-ever Career
Success Center, which provides full-time services and guidance for
Aflac employees who are interested in career development.
According to the criteria for being nominated for the 2014 Woman
in Healthcare Leadership Award, one needed to be a woman who:
- Significantly impacted the successful achievement of business
goals and objectives at a health care company.
- Sets an example to others through a demonstrated commitment,
passion and desire to contribute to their organization and/or the
industry overall.
- Shows a commitment to mentor and/or sponsor women by guiding
others to learn the necessary skills to become an empowered
leader.
