States, announced today that
J. Brian Angel; vice president of
State Government Relations, will replace long-time Aflac
veteran Jack Friou, who
will step down as the head of the Government Relations team
effective July 1. Mr. Friou will
remain with the company through the end of the year as a senior
advisor.

than four decades. In that time he has worked in a variety of
positions and with regulators across the country to ensure that the
company's interests were represented

Brian Angel received his
bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined Aflac's
Legal Department in 1992 after earning his juris doctor degree from
the University of Texas School of Law.
In 1996 he was promoted to second vice president, regulatory
counsel, and transferred to Albany, New
York, where he assumed day-to-day responsibility for Aflac
New York's legal, regulatory, and government relations matters. In
2001 he relocated back to Columbus
to serve as Aflac's privacy officer. In 2003 he joined the
Government Relations department as counsel and was promoted to his
current position in 2006. He is a member of the state bars of
Texas and Georgia.
Jack Friou, senior vice
president; director of Governmental Relations, joined Aflac in 1973
and has served in various capacities in administration, marketing
and government relations. He also served as president of Aflac New
York. Jack graduated from the University
of Georgia in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in political
science and served in the Army for two years.
