OTTAWA,
ON, May 8, 2024 /CNW/ - An official Government
of Canada delegation will
participate in a series of events in Normandy, France, from June
4-9 to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the
Battle of Normandy. The delegation, led by the Honourable
Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate
Minister of National Defence, will include Veterans,
representatives from Indigenous and Veterans organizations and
parliamentarians. A contingent of the Canadian Armed Forces,
including units and branches involved in D-Day and the Battle of
Normandy, will also participate in ceremonies and events.
Veterans Affairs Canada will host a Signature Ceremony, which is
open to media and the public, on Thursday,
June 6, at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer,
France.
Members of the Media who wish to cover the ceremony must
register online by Friday, May 10,
2024.
Notes for media:
A pool feed of the ceremony will be available for television
broadcasters. Accredited members of the media will be provided with
a designated area for the ceremony. There may be photo and
interview opportunities with delegation members.
