SASKATOON, SK, May 3, 2024 /CNW/ - Join the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) at the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada (SWCC) conference, for the annual SSHRC Storytellers Challenge showcase.

In this annual challenge, SSHRC asks postsecondary students to show Canadians, in up to three minutes or 300 words, how social sciences and humanities research is affecting our lives, our world and our future for the better. At the showcase event, the top 20 finalists, chosen from a pool of nearly 200 submissions from students across Canada, will present their inspiring stories to a panel of judges and the SWCC audience, for a chance to be named a Final Five winner. SSHRC president, Ted Hewitt, will announce the winners following the showcase.

Each finalist receives a prize of $3,000. The Final Five winners will receive an additional $1,000 in recognition of their outstanding research communication skills.

Members of the media wishing to cover the event are asked to confirm their attendance in advance by emailing nicole.swiatek@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca.
