Xerox Corp. on Friday named Time Warner Cable veteran William Osbourn Jr. finance chief following the company's split into two publicly traded companies at the end of the year, replacing Leslie Varon, who will retire.

Mr. Osbourn will join Xerox Dec. 5 as chief financial officer of the technology business, which will keep its legacy name.

Mr. Osbourn comes from a 13-year career at Time Warner Cable, which he ended as co-CFO. There he was also controller and chief accounting officer, and was key in the spinoff of Time Warner Inc.'s cable business.

Ms. Varon, who has served as CFO since October 2015, will retire after the separation. In her 36 years with Xerox she served in several senior finance roles, including corporate controller, vice president of finance for North America and head of investor relations.
