Legg Mason, Owens-Illinois to Leave S&P 500

Asset manager Legg Mason Inc. (LM) and glass-container maker
Owens-Illinois Inc. (OI) will leave the S&P 500 index after the
close of trading Thursday, as S&P Dow Jones Indices said the
companies have market values more representative of the mid-cap
space.
The S&P 500 will add real-estate investment trust
Mid-America Apartment Communities Inc. (MAA) and AmSurg Corp.
(AMSG), which provides outsourced physician services and operates
surgery facilities.
Legg Mason has a market value of about $3.18 billion, while
Owens-Illinois has a market capitalization of about $2.48
billion.
Meanwhile, pizza company Papa's John International Inc. (PZZA)
will join the S&P MidCap 400, with its spot in the S&P
SmallCap 600 slated for Wingstop Inc. (WING).
