Winnipeg Commodities Exchange

Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange is a derivatives market where futures and options contracts are electronically traded. Beginning as the Winnipeg Grain & Produce Exchange in 1887, the WEC introduced its first futures contracts in 1904.

Today, the goods traded on WEC market are feed wheat, western barley and canola. As Canada's only commodity futures exchange, WCE went from the traditional 'open outcry' method of trading to an electronic trading format in 2004.
