NASDAQ 100 Index

This stock market index contains 100 of the largest domestic and international non-financial companies listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The NASDAQ 100 is a modified version of a market value-weighted index, where each company's weight is based on their market capitalization with certain restrictions applied in capping the influence of the largest companies. There are no financial companies in the NASDAQ 100, but it does include companies in Canada, Israel, India, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ireland.

There are a number of standards a company must reach in order to be listed in this index including: being listed only on the NASDAQ (either the Global Select or Global Market tiers), must be listed for 2 years (or must meet market capitalization standards), have an average daily volume of 200,000 shares, be current in its reports and not be in bankruptcy proceedings. While there may be changes in the components in the case of delisting, the NASDAQ 100 is rebalanced once a year when its companies are reviewed then publicly announced.
