COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 27, 2023
/PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Want to learn how to open a coffee shop in
North Carolina? Get tips on
starting a profitable business in The Tar Heel State from coffee
shop startup experts at Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea.
Through its 7 Steps to Coffee Shop Success program, Roast
magazine's 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year has taught 11 North
Carolina entrepreneurs how to open their own independent coffee
shops. Nationwide, over 400 shops in more than 30 states have
opened through the 7 Steps program.
In 2022, Crimson Cup published a series of startup guides to
help entrepreneurs in each state achieve their dreams of opening
their own coffee shops.
For 2023, the company's 7 Steps coffee shop startup consulting
team has updated its "How to Start a Coffee Shop in North Carolina" guide with even more tips and
resources.
"North Carolina is a terrific
place to start a coffee shop!" said Crimson Cup Founder and
President Greg Ubert.
"In fact, North Carolina ranks
40th among the states in the number of coffee shops per capita,
with fewer than one coffee shop for every 7,307 residents. That
leaves many North Carolinians without a local coffee shop,
especially in the smaller cities and towns."
The program is based on Ubert's book, Seven Steps to Success: A
Common-sense Guide to Succeed in Specialty Coffee, which he wrote
to help coffee shop owners develop profitable businesses by
mastering all aspects of successful coffee shop operations.
"We help entrepreneurs with little or no coffee experience
become owners of thriving coffee shops serving their local
communities," he said.
"From choosing a terrific location and writing a strong coffee
shop business plan to buying and laying out equipment, hiring and
training staff and more, our team is here to guide you."

Crimson Cup Customers Jeff Hogan and Jenn Taylor are passionate entrepreneurs who
started The Vault Coffee and Pour House with a mission: bring
quality coffee to Carolina Beach, North
Carolina.
Working with Crimson Cup's coffee shop startup team, they opened
the doors of their new venture in December
2022.
"Now Carolina Beach coffee lovers can enjoy great-tasting brews
without ever having to leave town!" Hogan said.
Before the shop's opening, the closest drive-thru coffee house
was eight miles away.
Serial entrepreneurs, Hogan and Taylor own several other local
businesses, including Celtic Creamery Ice Cream, Hang Ten Grill, a tax service, three AT&T
stores, two soccer stores and 30 rental properties.
"We saw an opportunity to bring terrific coffee to Carolina Beach," Taylor said. "We loved the
property and thought Carolina
Beach needed both better coffee and a drive-thru."
They forged ahead despite a lack of coffee industry experience.
"I get a thrill from going into new businesses," Jeff said. "It
keeps my mind fresh!"
They discovered Crimson Cup while searching for a coffee partner
and coffee business consultant.
7 Steps Trainer and Project Manager Steve Bayless helped the couple design The
Vault, then traveled to Carolina
Beach the week before its soft opening.
There, he taught Hogan, Taylor and their baristas to prepare
drinks and run the coffee house, staying through the opening day to
ensure everything ran well.
"The training has been very thorough," Hogan said. "We had no
idea how involved it was to learn how to make great drinks. In
fact, the training reinforced why it was so important we selected
Crimson Cup as our coffee partner."
"Opening The Vault wouldn't have been possible without
Steve Bayless," he added. "We could
have watched a million YouTubes and it wouldn't have been
right."
Bayless returned March 21, 2023,
to ensure that the shop's Grand Opening celebration was a
success.
The company's Customer Growth team continues to help Hogan and
Taylor solve problems and brainstorm opportunities for The
Vault.
To help other aspiring entrepreneurs learn about opening coffee
shops, Crimson Cup will continue to post an updated state-level
guide each week in 2023 until all 50 states are covered.
"Although the fundamentals of coffee shop operation remain the
same from state to state, the economic opportunities, business
formation and licensing requirements vary widely," Ubert said.
"We're excited to share information and resources to help
entrepreneurs expedite their startup journey."
He invited anyone who is thinking of opening a coffee shop in
any state to call Crimson Cup for guidance.
"If you run into any roadblocks or just want to discuss your
vision with a coffee expert, you can reach our startup team by
