NORTHVILLE, Mich., Oct. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/
-- Bill Poulos, Member of
Citizens For Northville, urges
fellow Northville residents and
business owners to join him tomorrow evening at Marquis Theater.
The meeting will address Citizens For Northville group's findings
and recommendations concerning improved communications and
collaboration between the City and its citizens, regarding future
development proposals including specific redevelopment projects.
The necessity for change comes on the heels of the currently tabled
"Downs" Area project and the lessons learned from the land
redevelopment approval process with the City. Poulos and other
members of Citizens For Northville hope to receive the community's
input on the recommendations they plan to present to the City
Council in November.
The meeting will take place on October
24th at 7pm in the Marquis
Theater. All Northville community
members and business owners are invited to tomorrow's Marquis
Theater meeting where they can give input on the presented
recommendations. Feedback can be provided during the meeting or
after the meeting via email.
Discussing the Northville Downs project is not on the agenda for
this meeting. An integral part of this meeting will look at ways
that citizens can offer a timely response to future developments.
Previous problems encountered include difficulty navigating the
City's website. There is limited opportunity for community members
to provide comments at City meetings and they are not prompted to
engage in the process with many left unaware of key planned
developments.
Citizens for Northville
proposals include setting up a real-time, two-way, collaborative
communication process between the City and the community. Ways to
improve communication could include setting up a weekly City email,
creating a Facebook page where community members can comment and
communicating through "The Ville".
Citizens for Northville was
established this past July in response to the "Downs" redevelopment
project. Northville, Michigan is a
small town with approximately 6,000 people. Many are worried about
the impact "the Downs" area redevelopment or similar proposals may
have on the city—including things like roads, traffic,
architectural feel, sewage, and overall cost benefits.
The proposals put forward at tomorrow's meeting in the Marquis
Theater will be presented to the City Council for approval at their
Town Hall meeting, on November 18,
2019.
Businessman and philanthropist Bill
Poulos is the driving force behind trying to implement a
better way of communication between officials and the community.
Poulos, a resident of Northville,
began his working life at General Motors where he worked to build
better and safer cars for the first half of his career. After
retiring from his automotive executive career, Poulos established
Profits Run, Inc., an educational financial publishing company.
Poulos is focused on giving back to the community through his many
causes and initiatives. This meeting is just one of his many ways
that he wants to help people and give back to the community. It is
hoped this will be the first step towards allowing community
members to become more informed regarding future developments and
having their say in a timely way.
About Citizens for Northville
Citizens for Northville, LLC. was
established by Bill Poulos in
July 2019 in response to the "Downs"
redevelopment project. There was a keen awareness in the town that
"The Downs" could make or break Northville. It was recognized that planning
issues like costs, benefits, issues and impact on local
infrastructure were not known or understood by residents. It also
became evident that locals had limited input into the Master Plan.
Citizens for Northville, LLC. is
on a mission to implement real change that will benefit the
community for years to come.
