In this A.M.BestTV episode from the 2018 Les Rendez-Vous de Septembre (Rendez-Vous) conference in Monte Carlo, Monaco, a panel of A.M. Best executives discuss the opening of a new office in Amsterdam, in response to Brexit. Click on http://www.ambest.com/v.asp?v=rvs5918 to view the entire program.

Participating on the panel were Nick Charteris-Black, managing director, market development, EMEA; Angela Yeo, senior director of analytics and head of operations for the Amsterdam office; and Greg Carter, managing director of analytics.

Charteris-Black highlighted why A.M. Best selected Amsterdam for its new office.

“The three key reasons were the logistical connections that Amsterdam has with the rest of the European Union, the ease of doing business there and Amsterdam’s talent pool, in terms of the people who already work there and its ability to attract employees from London,” said Charteris-Black.

Yeo spoke about staffing and how many A.M. Best clients would be transferred to the new office. “The new office will have a staff of about 15 people, who will service about 80 clients. That equates to roughly a third of our current London client portfolio,” said Yeo.

Stressing the consistent application of A.M. Best’s ratings methodology, Carter said, “A.M. Best has one global ratings methodology, which means that all of our rating and analytical operations follow the same methodology. It is important that our clients understand that a credit rating issued from the Amsterdam office will mean exactly the same thing as a like credit rating issued from any other A.M. Best office.”
