Seattle Digital Media Company, Founded by
Emmy-Award Actor Tom Skerritt, Sees Outstanding International
Response to its Library of Newly Released “Heyou Reimagined
Classics”
Heyou Media, Inc., a new media company founded by actor and
filmmaker Tom Skerritt, unveiled today its new products and
introduced Bill Ruckelshaus to its advisory board and growing group
of investors. The company also reported that its first series
released to the marketplace, under “Heyou Reimagined Classics,” is
receiving outstanding U.S. and international reception with
millions of viewers through its distribution on social media.
Heyou Media announced three product categories that will define
its initial creative efforts, with several completed projects and
many in development:
“Heyou Reimagined Classics” - Using digital technology to
update and deliver classic silent movies with current music, new
editing and dialogue. As part of today’s announcement, the team
officially introduced a group of new productions under this brand,
featuring well-known silent film artists. Hundreds of additional
classics are actively under consideration by the company.
“Mini. Mobile. Movies.” - Curating a global library of
eclectic and engaging, short-form content across various genres for
mobile and online viewing. Heyou Media stated it is holding
discussions with many creators and will announce a suite of
acquired titles within the next few months.
“Heyou Features” - Bringing high-quality episodic content
to video-on-demand (VOD) audiences. Projects include “Widow Walk,”
now in production; “East of the Mountains,” by David Guterson;
Skerritt’s “What We Came to Be;” and “Stroller Gangs,” available on
Amazon Prime.
“Heyou Media is responding to an exploding worldwide appetite
for mobile digital entertainment by using our highly efficient and
innovative curation and development process, and by leveraging
decades of underutilized creative assets,” said Mary Jesse, Chief
Executive Officer of Heyou Media, Inc. “The entertainment industry
is faced with changing consumer behavior, including the desire for
appealing, shareable ‘bite-size’ mobile content. Our approach is
resonating with today’s fan base, content providers, industry
communities and investors.”
Heyou Media’s core creative team has been collaborating since
the inception of the company and brings the magic behind the “Heyou
Reimagined Classics” brand. Filmmakers Skerritt, April Larson and
Chief Technology Officer, Joseph Assi saw an opportunity to take
the treasured creations of early century filmmakers and introduce
them to the digital arena in fresh, modern formats.
“More than 100 years later, we are giving a new voice to the
silent film classics and the filmmaking pioneers behind the work,”
said Assi. “On top of being fun to watch, the team at Heyou Media
identifies with these early creators. We are at a redefining time
in entertainment, similar to what was happening in the beginning
stages of the film industry. Our reimagined treatments are symbolic
and prove the innovation and entertainment value of these early
artists stand the test of time.”
Ruckelshaus, who recently invested in Heyou Media, will join
Pearl Jam manager, Kelly Curtis; Xbox Co-Creator, Ed Fries; Douglas
Shinsato, global business executive; and former Facebook and Amazon
executive, Rudy Gadre on the company’s advisory board.
Ruckelshaus (www.linkedin.com/in/bill-ruckelshaus) brings more
than twenty years in operational and investing leadership across
software, digital media and ecommerce businesses. Most recently,
Ruckelshaus served as President and Chief Executive Officer of
Blucora, leading their multi-year transformation to a financial
services and technology company. Before Blucora, Ruckelshaus was a
finance and operations executive at AudienceScience, a
Seattle-based online ad-tech pioneer. He also held senior roles in
corporate development and financial planning and analysis at
Expedia and IAC.
“Tom and the Heyou Media team are disrupting digital
storytelling and mobile content creation at a critical time,” said
Ruckelshaus. “The company’s progressive business model meets a huge
market need. I look forward to participating in the future of
entertainment.”
“It’s inspiring and rewarding to witness what Seattle’s creative
community can accomplish,” said Skerritt. “Since our introduction
in May of last year, Heyou Media continues to see a swell of
interest and collaboration from talent, content creators, musicians
and great business minds.”
Skerritt will star with Armie Hammer in the newly announced
Broadway production “Straight White Men” in Summer 2018.
