Electricite de France SA on Thursday said that it won a 1.5-gigawatt wind farm project off the coast of New Jersey through Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind LLC, its joint venture with Royal Dutch Shell PLC.

The French utility company said the project, which was awarded by New Jersey's board of public utilities, is located 10 to 20 miles off the coast of the U.S. state. Construction is set to begin in 2024.

Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind is a 50-50 venture between EDF Renewables North America and Shell New Energies US LLC.
