--After using a new seismic imaging technology to discover a large deposit of oil in the Gulf of Mexico, BP intends to expand the use of the method to fields in Angola and Brazil, Reuters reports Friday.

--The technology led the company to find a billion barrels of oil in an area thought to be dry, the report said.

--The software, Full Waveform Inversion, analyzes sound waves to create 3D images of deep geological formations, the report said.
