Siemens on Tuesday said that it received an order for high-speed trains in Germany worth around 1.5 billion euros ($1.69 billion).

The country's state-owned rail company Deutsche Bahn ordered 43 new ICE 3neo trains, expanding the operator's fleet to 73, it said in a joint statement with Siemens.

Deutsche Bahn had previously ordered 30 trains of the type in July 2020, with the first entering service at the end of 2022, the statement said.

The order increases Deutsche Bahn's ICE fleet to around 450 trains by the end of the decade, the companies added.
