BMW AG said Thursday that it plans to appoint Anke Schaeferkordt, former Co-Chief Executive of RTL Group SA, to its supervisory board.

The German car maker also said current supervisory board chairman Norbert Reithofer will be standing for re-election.

Both appointments will be proposed at the company's annual general meeting on May 14.

Additionally, Renate Koecher will step down early as supervisory board member at the end of the meeting.
