Bayer AG (BAYN.XE) said Tuesday that is donating medicines and financial aid worth around 1.5 million euros ($1.65 billion) to support the population affected by the outbreak of coronavirus in China.

The German chemical-and-pharmaceutical conglomerate said it will donate drugs including antibiotics and analgesics with a total value of EUR850,000, as well as EUR600,000 in cash to be used to buy protective clothing for medical staff in Wuhan.

The donations will be made to the Chinese Red Cross, which is working with the country's health authorities to coordinate the deployment of aid measures for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and containment of the respiratory virus infection.
