Germany's Siemens Energy AG and chemical company BASF SE said
Tuesday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding on the
implementation of low-carbon technologies.
BASF aims to lower carbon-dixoide emissions in chemical
production and several pilots projects are under discussion at its
Ludwigshafen site in Germany.
"Possible pilot projects include the construction of a proton
exchange membrane electrolyzer for hydrogen production with an
output of 50 megawatts," the companies said.
The companies are also looking at the possible modernization of
BASF's power grid at the Ludwigshafen site with Siemens Energy
products.
