Siemens AG (SIE.XE) has appointed Maria Ferraro as its chief diversity officer, effective Dec. 1, the German conglomerate said Wednesday.

Ms. Ferraro assumes the role in addition to her position as chief financial officer at the Siemens Digital Industries unit. She succeeds Janina Kugel, whose contract expires at the end of January 2020.

As chief diversity officer, Ms. Ferraro will report to Deputy Chief Executive Roland Busch, who will be succeeding Ms. Kugel as chief human resources officer and labor director, effective Dec. 1, 2019.

Ms. Ferraro, a native of Canada, joined Siemens in 2004. Before becoming CFO at Siemens Digital Industries earlier this year, she served in leadership positions in finance at Siemens in Canada, Germany, the U.S. and the U.K.

Siemens employs approximately 377,000 people in more than 200 countries and regions.
