YAOUNDE, Cameroon--A delegation for Lukoil met Thursday with
Cameroon's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Gaston Eloundou
Essomba, for talks over the rehabilitation of the country's single
refinery.
The talks discussed the revamping of Cameroon's National
Refining Company, or SONARA, as well as halting refined fuel
imports which began amid the closure of Cameroon's refinery on May
31, 2019, after it caught fire.
The refinery is currently undergoing a 300 billion CFA franc
($502.7 million) transformation program to enable it to refine
Cameroon's heavy crude oil.
