Continental AG Targets Carbon-Neutral Production by 2040

Continental AG (CON.XE) said Tuesday that it is targeting
carbon-neutral production by 2040 and that it plans to exclusively
use renewable energy at all its production sites globally by the
end of next year.
"In terms of sales, we will reduce our energy expenditures by a
fifth over the next 10 years," Chief Executive Elmar Degenhart said
at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Continental said that its environmental strategy also relates to
resource efficiency, waste reduction, and the sustainable use of
water in regions where access to clean water is difficult.
Mr. Degenhart also called on legislators in Germany to reduce
the tax burden on automotive companies.
