BAE Systems, Inc. on Tuesday said it received a contract from the U.S. Navy to drydock and upgrade the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp.

Under the terms of the $197.4 million contract, BAE will perform maintenance and modernization work at its Norfolk shipyard, beginning in February of next year.

The company said the contract has options that, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $237.7 million.

"This is the second time in four years that the company has performed significant work onboard the Wasp to sustain its warfighting capability," BAE said.
