Vale informs a set of initiatives for impacted territories

Rio de Janeiro, September 24, 2019 — Vale S.A. (“Vale”) informed in a press conference held today that it is developing a set of integrated actions for the communities of Macacos (Nova Lima), Barão de Cocais, and Itabirito. With initiatives totaling approximately R$190 million in the next three years, the Development Plan for Impacted Territories has been prepared in agreement with the impacted communities and public authorities, in accordance with the economic and social profile of each of these locations, and it aims to develop the economic vocation of the regions.

The initiatives will be directed to the areas of tourism, infrastructure, education, health, environment, and professional qualification. Construction and refurbishment of public facilities, cleaning and dredging of watercourses, construction of schools, as well as improvement of social and health programs are some of the actions to be carried out.

Additionally, Vale also informs that the amounts announced today were already included in the provisions reported in the Financial Statements for the first semester of 2019.
