Target Corp. on Wednesday said it named Prat Vemana executive vice president and chief digital and product officer, effective Oct. 31.

The Minneapolis retailer said Mr. Vemana joins from healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente, where he served as senior vice president and chief digital officer.

Target said Mr. Vemana, who also has held digital leadership posts at Home Depot Inc. and Staples, will report to Cara Sylvester, a Target executive vice president who earlier this year took on the newly created post of chief guest experience officer after serving as the retailer's chief marketing and digital officer.

Target's digital comparable sales rose about 21% for the fiscal year that ended in January, and digital currently represents 20% of the retailer's business.
