BBVA SA (BBVA.MC) said Wednesday that current Chief Executive
Carlos Torres Vila will take over as executive chairman at the end
of 2018, replacing Francisco Gonzalez.
Mr. Torres Vila has worked at the Spanish bank since 2008 and
became BBVA's chief executive in 2015. Mr. Gonzalez has been at the
helm of BBVA since 2000, when BBVA merged with Argentaria.
The Spanish bank didn't say who would replace Mr. Torres Vila as
chief executive.
The announcement comes after Banco Santander (SAN) on Tuesday
named Andrea Orcel as its new chief executive.
