Facebook Inc. (FB) is launching "Threads from Instagram," a camera-first messaging app for quick sharing of photos and videos.

In a blog post, Instagram noted its earlier sharing features including Stories. "But for your smaller circle of friends, we saw the need to stay more connected throughout the day."

Instagram is also offering a status feature with suggested categories like "studying" as well as customized and auto status options.
