Philip Morris International Inc. on Monday said it named Jorge Insuasty chief life-sciences officer, effective Jan. 15.

The tobacco company said Mr. Insuasty joins from Sanofi S.A., where most recently he was global franchise head of immunology, oncology and neurology for Sanofi Genzyme.

Philip Morris said Mr. Insuasty succeeds John O'Mullane, who is retiring.
