Pfizer Inc. on Friday said its board raised the quarterly dividend by 2.5% to 41 cents from 40 cents.

The new payout, equal to $1.64 a year, represents an annual yield of about 3.17% based on Thursday's closing price of $51.78, up from about 3.09%.

The New York drugmaker said the increased dividend is payable March 3 to shareholders of record Jan. 27.
