Globally, records show an increase of 1.8 million to two million
coronavirus cases a week, said Michael Ryan, executive director of
the WHO's Health Emergencies Program. "Coronavirus Case Numbers
Stay Elevated in Parts of Midwest" at 4:24 p.m. ET and subsequent
updates on Sept. 18 incorrectly said cases were increasing by 1.8
million to 20 million a week.
