Dow Jones News
--U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb
said a recent meeting with Altria Group Inc. (MO) and Juul Labs
Inc. was "difficult," CNBC and Bloomberg reported. In December,
Altria bought a 35% stake in Juul for $12.8 billion.
--Mr. Gottlieb said the FDA "is going to have to very carefully
calculate its action against the entire category" of pod-based
nicotine products, Bloomberg reported.
--Meanwhile, San Francisco officials proposed bills targeting
e-cigarettes, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. One of the
bills would ban them until the FDA begins a pre-market review
process, the report said.
