Military contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. was awarded a $62 billion 10-year contract for F-16 fighter jets for foreign countries, the Defense Department said Friday.

The initial delivery order is for 90 jets and has a total value of nearly $5 billion, the department said.

Work will be primarily done in Greenville, S.C., and Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2026.
