Humana Inc. on Thursday said its board raised the quarterly dividend by 12%, to 88.5 cents a share from 78.75 cents.

The new payout, equal to $3.54 a year, represents an annual yield of about 0.71% based on Wednesday's closing price of $498.32, up from 0.63%.

The Louisville, Ky., health insurer said the increased dividend is payable April 28 to shareholders of record March 31.
