Cigna Corp. shares were up 7% to $172.90 in midday trading.
The health service company said it is waiving customer
cost-sharing and co-payments for Covid-19 treatment through May 31.
The treatments that Cigna will cover for Covid-19 are those covered
under Medicare or other applicable state regulations.
The company said it will reimburse health care providers at
Cigna's in-network rates or Medicare rates. The policy applies to
customers in the U.S. who are covered under Cigna's employer/union
sponsored insured group health plans, insured plans for U.S.-based
globally mobile individuals, Medicare Advantage and Individual and
Family Plans.
Cigna said it will also administer the waiver to self-insured
group health plans.
Cigna said it will deploy hundreds of on-staff clinicians,
including physicians and nurse practitioners, to join the team of
health care professionals at MDLIVE, a telehealth company and Cigna
network partner.
Health insurance services company Humana also said Monday it is
waiving consumer costs for treatment related to Covid-19 covered
services.
Humana was up 6% to $313.74 in midday trading.
