HP Inc. has appointed Marie Myers as acting finance chief, succeeding Steve Fieler, who is leaving for a job at Google, the company said Wednesday.

Ms. Myers, an HP veteran who served as finance lead for the company's businesses during the Hewlett-Packard Co. split, returned to HP in March and had served as chief transformation officer since June. She's slated to take over as acting CFO on Oct. 1 while the company searches for a permanent successor.

Mr. Fieler, who's held the CFO role since 2018, notified the company this week that he would leave to take a job outside the company, effective Oct. 2.

"He built a world-class team that is delivering strong results and I am grateful for his many contributions to our business," Chief Executive Enrique Lores said in a statement.

Ms. Myers will continue to serve in her current role as she takes on the expanded responsibilities, HP said.

"Marie's leadership has been integral to our success as she transforms the way we work to better serve customers and maximize efficiency," Mr. Lores said, adding, "Her experience in finance strategy, cost management and restructuring will ensure a seamless transition as we continue to position HP for the future."
