--Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) is in talks to sell shale assets to Comstock Resources Inc. (CRK) in a deal that could be worth over $1 billion, Reuters reports Wednesday, citing "two people familiar with the matter."

--The deal would see Comstock purchase the Haynesville shale assets in Louisiana, the report said.

--Neither company responded to requests for comment, the report said.
