Becton Dickinson & Co. on Thursday said it named Patrick Kaltenbach executive vice president and chief technology officer, effective Jan. 1.

The Franklin Lakes, N.J., medical-technology company said Mr. Kaltenbach, who currently serves as president of its life-sciences segment, succeeds John DeFord, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Becton Dickinson said it named Dave Hickey executive vice president and president of the life-sciences segment, succeeding Mr. Kaltenbach.

Mr. Hickey, 57 years old, joined the company in 2014 and currently serves as president of its integrated-diagnostics-solutions business.

Mr. Kaltenbach, also 57, joined as president of the life-sciences segment in May 2018.
