Company to Demonstrate its
Ultra-high-performance Container 5G/NFVI Firewall and CGNAT Virtual
Network Functions
As part of its presence at this year’s KubeCon + CloudNativeCon,
A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN) has announced its participation in the
Linux Foundation’s end-to-end 5G cloud-native network proof of
concept (POC). This represents the first public demonstration of
A10’s carrier-class 5G container firewall, which is capable of
delivering up to 180 Gbps throughput, one of the fastest in the
industry. The company’s products are operating in a live ecosystem
environment delivering proven interoperability across the user
plane, control plane and networking plane of this 5G SA and NSA
distributed cloud network.
The POC is a fully containerized, end-to-end 5G stand-alone (SA)
and non-stand-alone (NSA) distributed cloud network. The
infrastructure is a Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes environment,
implemented on Lenovo commercial off the shelf (COTS) servers.
A10’s container-based firewall and carrier-grade network address
translation (CGNAT) technologies are featured as part of the 5G
cloud-native network proof of concept.
A10 is focused on 5G security solutions with multiple proven
tier-one 5G deployments that have required continued hyperscale,
lower latency, agility, and advanced security. As 5G adoption
increasingly requires multi-terabit performance on the Gi-LAN, the
company continues to provide industry-leading scale in both virtual
network functions (VNFs) and physical network functions (PNFs),
including scale-out agile deployments with containerized solutions
for virtual mobile edge compute requirements.
“This initiative remains one of the most compelling use cases
for mobile operators looking to transform networks and lay the
foundation for 5G. The upcoming demonstration of the end-to-end 5G
cloud-native network at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon represents an
important advancement in bringing this fully containerized 5G
network to reality. A10 Networks is providing key firewall and
CGNAT functionality, high performance and proven interoperability
to this proof of concept,” said Heather Kirksey, vice president,
Community and Ecosystem Development at the Linux Foundation.
“Much as in traditional enterprise datacenters, service
providers are ramping up their use of cloud-native technologies
like Kubernetes to build next-generation workloads. Red Hat is
pleased to collaborate with partners like A10 Networks and the
Linux Foundation to showcase a cloud-native mobile network built on
an open source infrastructure this year at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon
North America,” said Tom Nadeau, technical director, NFV, Red
Hat.
This live demo, which is being led by the Linux Foundation, Red
Hat and China Mobile is taking place during the keynote on
Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
Participation on the Exhibit Floor - Booth S69 In addition to
the company’s participation in the live demo, A10 is also a Silver
sponsor of KubeCon and will be on the exhibit floor and available
to speak to attendees about its new and existing product lines,
including A10 Secure Service Mesh for microservices-based
applications deployed in Kubernetes.
Happy Hour at the Rustic Root – Monday, Nov. 18, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
